Candyland, 2013, written and directed by Jouri Smit, is a film that shows the extent to which prescription drug abuse has reached epidemic levels. Jack Smith (Noah Mills) seems to have it all. He’s handsome, stylish, successful in the movie business, and he’s got a lovely girlfriend, Amber Leahy (Roxy Olin). With Los Angeles as the backdrop, the story spans the course of one day and we learn quickly that Jack Smith chomps down prescription drugs (Adderall, Ritalin, Vicodin, and Viagra) like a kid with a package of starbursts. The effects are devastating.
